Christian Aid claims Guernsey is following on tax transparency

CHRISTIAN Aid has disagreed with the Prime Minister that Guernsey is helping to drive through changes to international tax transparency practices.
But the Policy Council yesterday dismissed the charity’s claim that Guernsey had ‘followed’ as opposed to leading changes.
Christian Aid said it remained concerned that the island allowed for ‘excessive secrecy in the financial sector’.
The charity’s comments follow a letter from UK Prime Minister David Cameron to Chief Minister Peter Harwood, which stated that he recognised Guernsey’s role in driving through change.
