Albert Pier packed again as the 2013 Proms season ends
Monday 9th September 2013, 3:00PM BST.
MUSIC-LOVERS flocked to the Albert Pier on Saturday to enjoy local performances and live coverage of the Last Night of the Proms.
Around 2,000 people attended the event, which saw the Guernsey Symphonic Winds and The Guernsey Bach Choir take to the stage.
Among the crowd were some who have attended the Proms on The Pier since it started eight years ago and others who had not been before.
Friends Sue Corbet, 69, and Jean Kimber said they tried to go every year. ‘We like to come because the atmosphere is great,’ said Mrs Corbet.
Mrs Kimber added: ‘The music is always so good and we like waving our flags and singing along.’
Andy and Sue Dovey decided to go to the pier with their children Sophie, 9, and Luke, 7, for the first time.
‘We decided to come to see what it is all about,’ said Mr Dovey. ‘Luke plays the violin and Sophie is looking at learning either the clarinet or the oboe. Hopefully this will give them an idea of what it is all about.’
