Park music event could become annual

A MUSIC festival could become an annual event, the Friends of Saumarez Park Playground Committee has said.
The event, named Saumarez Live, was held for the first time yesterday and saw the official launch of fundraising for phase two of the playground redevelopment project, a play castle.
Many islanders attended the festival for an afternoon and evening of live music from local bands and UK Blondie tribute Blondied.
Committee secretary Hazel Seymour said the rain had kept some people away early in the afternoon, but more and more people arrived as the afternoon went on.
‘We have had quite a lot of rain but it’s not keeping everybody away,’ she said. ‘People have come down to support us and we’re grateful for all the support.
‘We were always going to go ahead regardless of the weather – we have all put a lot of effort in and it is fantastic to see it all coming together now.’
