Meet the Pilots draws the crowds
Thursday 12th September 2013, 9:00AM BST.
AN EVENT that gives islanders the chance to meet pilots flying in the Battle of Britain Air Display is becoming more and more popular, organisers have said.
Hundreds of people turned out to the Aircraft Servicing Guernsey hangar yesterday to see up close the aircraft.
Planes ranging from the Douglas Skyraider to the North American T28 were on static display while members of the public got to meet and talk to the pilots.
Cheryl Semple, 41, took her son Cory, two, to the event. ‘I used to be a nanny and I always brought the children here,’ she said.
‘They love it. It’s nice for the children to see the planes and touch them and maybe even sit in them.
‘It’s also something a bit different for them to do.’
They were planning on watching the air display today along the seafront.
The Meet the Pilots event has been held for a number of years at the ASG hangar and president of the Guernsey RAF Association branch, Alan Brunger, was pleased to see so many people turn up.
