SEA Fisheries’ vessel, the Leopardess, is on operational deployment for an average of 67 days a year, figures have revealed.
Information released by the Commerce and Employment Department, which wants to spend roughly £1m. replacing the vessel, showed its usage has fallen in recent years.
The craft is less than 20 years old and the replacement project has been earmarked as category A in the recently published States capital prioritisation report – meaning it is critical for services.
C&E’s figures also revealed that, from 2007 to 2012, the Leopardess’s workload was scheduled around a five-day working week, or 252 days a year.
Of this restricted schedule, the craft was on deployment for an average of just 67 days of its potential working year.
