Statutory redundancy pay to be reviewed

COMMERCE and Employment is to look into whether Guernsey needs a statutory redundancy pay law as a matter of priority.
The department said the review would have to give full and careful consideration to its other works on maternity and paternity leave and disability discrimination in employment and not impact on that.
Board members met to discuss redundancy pay yesterday following the recent collapse of Huelin-Renouf.
‘Having considered the information available, the board agreed it would review in the coming weeks its current prioritisation for the development of employment protection legislation as part of its consideration of the 2014 Departmental Business Plan.
