Les Cotils gardener upset by flower theft

A GARDENER whose prized black geranium was stolen has thanked islanders for their generosity and gifts following the theft.
But he has not given up hope that the original plant could be returned.
Les Cotils head gardener John Homer, 69, pictured, has been cultivating and improving the grounds at the Christian centre since 2006.
He said there had been an ongoing problem with people damaging the plants.
But the latest flower theft hit close to home, because the bloom was an anniversary gift from Mr Homer’s wife.
‘It is quite upsetting that someone has taken it,’ he said.
He said it was important that the 15-acre site was kept open to the public, but this was not the first time there had been problems, with people pulling up plants to vandalise the beds, hose connectors taken and flowers stolen.
