‘I’ll fight to the death to save my school’

THE mother of a child at St Sampson’s Infants School has vowed to ‘fight to the death’ over plans to close it.
Emergency PTA meetings were arranged and social media campaigns launched as groups from both St Sampson’s and the other threatened school, St Andrew’s Primary, swung into action in a bid to prevent Education getting its wish.
Vanessa Bourgaize, 39, has a son at St Sampson’s and intends to be ‘extremely vocal’ about the plans.
‘I am going to fight this to the death. My son’s education will not be worth having if this school closes. In a larger school, the pupils will not get the attention they need.’
St Andrew’s PTA said that with the debate due at the end of next month there was ‘little time’ to enact a concerted campaign. But according to chairman Charles Swainston, that is exactly what is going to happen.
‘We will use every possible means in our campaign and will be meeting over the weekend to discuss what to do. One has to ask about the rationale behind this decision.’
