WESTMINSTER does not view Guernsey as a tax haven, the UK Secretary of State for Justice has said.
On a visit to the island Chris Grayling reaffirmed Prime Minister David Cameron’s view – which he expressed in the House of Commons – that the island has lost its tax avoidance tag.
‘It is very much the Government’s view that Guernsey is not a tax haven. It is an important part of the UK isles. There is a world of difference between Guernsey and one or two of the other island enclaves throughout the world, shall we say.’
The Ministry of Justice is responsible for managing the relationship between the UK government and the Crown Dependencies.
