MRI scan delay ‘playing with my son’s life

A TODDLER who woke up with half of his face paralysed had to wait six weeks to get an MRI scan after two of his appointments were cancelled.
Kohan Callaghin’s mother Emma Gallienne, 24, pictured with Kohan, has slammed the island’s health service and said she feels let down.
Health and Social Services said it sympathised with Miss Gallienne’s concerns and encouraged her to go through the formal complaints procedure so that it could respond to her directly.
The Specsavers administrator believed her 16-month-old son had Bell’s palsy, a disorder of the nerves that control movement of the muscles in the face.
She was advised to get Kohan an MRI scan to confirm that his condition was not something else.
He had a scan last week which confirmed that it was Bell’s palsy.
‘They were playing with my child’s life and it’s just not good enough,’ the mum of two said.
