AURIGNY is here for the long haul to ensure Guernsey stays connected, its CEO has said.
The promise from Mark Darby follows news that it could soon face competition from easyJet on the Gatwick route.
Aurigny has now signed off a deal for a new jet aircraft to cover Flybe’s withdrawal of its London service next year – beforehand Mr Darby stated a new competitor would ruin the business case for the purchase.
However, he yesterday reiterated why the airline went ahead with the deal.
‘We made the investment with the backing of the States 100% in good faith because the States was looking to us to provide certainty that London would be properly served next Easter,’ he said.
