Jersey spends twice as much as Guernsey at UK party conferences

GUERNSEY spent half as much as Jersey in attending this year’s UK party conferences.
The States final bill for travel, accreditation and accommodation to the Conservative, Liberal Democrat and Labour events was £9,355, compared to Jersey’s £20,228.
Jersey sends more people to all the events.
A Policy Council spokesman said: ‘Ministers attended all three of the main UK party conferences where they were able to meet MPs, peers and MEPs – an important part of Guernsey’s engagement with the UK government and opposition,’
‘Ministers were also able to meet with international contacts such as ambassadors, NGOs and businesses.’
Jersey’s chief minister has faced questions from Deputy Mike Higgins about the costs of attending the three events.
