FOUNDATIONS have been laid for Guernsey’s new mental health and wellbeing centre and work on the building is about to begin.
Almost 300,000 concrete blocks will be used to build the walls of the island’s new state-of-the-art facility.
Contractor Harbour View Construction began work in April on the £24m. redevelopment project, south-west of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.
It will replace the outdated Castel Hospital.
So far, Oberlands House, which had housed residents with learning disabilities, has been demolished and Mignot House has been completely stripped out ahead of its refurbishment.
