Severe weather warning as storm nears
Saturday 26th October 2013, 11:52AM BST.
GUERNSEY is preparing for winds up to gale force nine tomorrow night, after a severe weather warning was issued.
A Guernsey Met. Office spokesman said that the predicted storm should be at its height from tomorrow evening until first light on Monday.
‘At the moment they are talking around force eight winds, up to a severe gale force nine,’ he said.
‘There will be heavy rain as well.’
The winds will come from the south or south-west, meaning temperatures will stay relatively high at 14 degrees. However, the spokesman said these sorts of winds could result in trees coming down, structural damage and debris being blown around.
