Rohais businesses count cost of road closure

ROHAIS businesses have already noticed a drop in trade since a five-week road closure came into place on Friday night.
Roy’s Ceramics claimed it would lose £40,000 and has called for better coordination of closures. ‘The last time this road was closed we lost about £20,000, but this time I reckon it will be double that,’ said an employee, who wanted to remain anonymous.
‘We noticed a big loss in trade straight away and when the road is back open who is going to want to buy tiles at Christmas? I don’t know why they have to close the entire road and can’t just close half of it to allow a bit of traffic through – it’s just crazy,’ they said.
‘If the States owned a business along here, it would be coordinated properly, but because it’s not affected, it just doesn’t think about the impact it has on us local businesses.’
The Doghouse manageress Irene Faisca (pictured above) said she noticed it was quieter than usual on Friday night.
