St Andrew’s site could still house a school

PUTTING another type of school on the St Andrew’s Primary site is an option that could be explored, a douzenier has said.
As the parish reflected on the States’ decision to close the school, its residents vowed to ensure that the heart would not be ripped from the community and that the site would remain a hub for years to come.
Douzenier and parent Richard Best said that the site must remain a focal point for St Andrew’s, particularly as the land was given to the douzaine on the condition that it could only be used for educational purposes.
‘There are options,’ he said. ‘If it does go back to some form of education – whether it be a free school or Church of England school – that wouldn’t be a problem. It was given to the parish for that.
‘These are all ifs and buts and there is the option of a community centre.’
