ALDERNEY student Seanchan Ollivier was crowned Young Chef of the Year last evening as part of a Rotary Club competition.
Now in its sixth year, the annual event saw 13 students from Guernsey and Alderney schools prepare and cook a healthy three-course meal within two hours at the College of FE for under £7 per head.
But it was the 15-year-old St Anne’s student Seanchan who impressed the judges with his tuna salad with poached quail eggs, pan-fried duck breast in a red wine and plum sauce, served with cream potatoes, butter spinach and baby carrots, and a lemon sponge served with lemon curd mint creme fraiche and a mango coulis.
‘I am so happy I have won. I love cooking and it is great to know people like my food,’ said Seanchan.
