A HERM teenager has returned from the expedition to Norway in which a polar bear attacked and killed a British schoolboy.

Although shocked by the death, Richard Bailey, 17, said he would not turn down the chance to go trekking again.

Richard was on the same British Schools Exploring Society trek as Eton pupil Horatio Chapple, 17, who was mauled to death, and Jersey resident Patrick Flinders, 16, who had pieces of the polar bear’s teeth removed from his skull.

Richard was in a different group to those injured and 8km away from the attack but he had met both boys. ‘I knew them both because I spoke to them when we were all at base camp,’ said Richard.
