Public invited to question minister
Monday 7th October 2013, 12:11AM BST.
A Holyrood committee is asking members of the public what questions they want to see put to Health Secretary Alex Neil.
A question and answer session with the cabinet secretary will be hosted by the Health Committee next month.
Before that, they are asking what pressing issues should be raised with Mr Neil.
People can ask questions via Twitter or Facebook, or the Scottish Parliament website, and it is the first time a Holyrood committee has used social media to ask the public for questions to be put to a member of the Scottish Government.
Committee convener Duncan McNeil said: ” This is a fantastic opportunity that gives a platform to people from across Scotland. This is their chance to influence and direct the committee to question the Cabinet secretary on issues that matter to them.”
A selection of questions will then be put to the Health Secretary when he appears before the committee on November 13.
MSPs will then have the chance to ask follow-up questions to explore the issues raised.
