LEO RICE was a double winner and fellow Sarnians Tom Druce and Josh Allaway were also victorious as the Sportingbet Channel Islands men’s team performed well in their latest British League Division Three clash in Kingston.
The CIAC squad featured just five Sarnians for the third of the four-round league series, but between them they brought in a stack of important points as the Channel Islanders placed third of eight teams to consolidate third spot in the table and their place in the division for another season.
In the face of strong opposition from champions-elect Glasgow City and the home squad, Kingston AC and Polytechnic Harriers, it was a fine combined effort by the Channel Islanders who had slipped to fourth place last time out.
Druce won the 400m A string in a convincing 47.00 and his winning margin was a full two seconds.
