Champions crowned
Wednesday 31st August 2011, 2:29PM BST.
STUART LE NOURY and Carol Bates are the Yorkshire Guernsey Sarnia Walking Club champions, with both winning their respective final race over a mile in the 10-race series.
Le Noury (pictured) had the performance of the day when, in hot conditions, he finished within a few strides of walking a seven-minute mile, stopping the clock at 7-00.5.
A fast first lap and three even laps after that gave him a time which ranks him at number nine in the Guernsey all-time list.
It was also a personal best time by six seconds, which gave him a convincing victory over second man home Phil Lockwood.
