Dawes in control from gun to tape

THE second FNB Cross Country event at L’Ancresse drew another large field but Steve Dawes again ran out a clear winner.
Dawes posted a personal best of 21min. 11sec. for the four-mile course, finishing over a minute clear of Jersey’s Elliott Dorey.
Unlike last week’s shorter three-mile event in which Dorey maintained a challenge for the majority of the race, the longer distance played into Dawes’ hands and he was always in control.
Mike Wilesmith, another longer distance specialist, was pressuring the young middle distance runner in the closing stages.
