Lowndes dominant in GSC 200m championships
Friday 28th October 2011, 2:29PM BST.
BEN LOWNDES proved he is still the leading senior swimmer in the Guernsey Swimming Club at the club’s 200m championships, held over three evenings at St Sampson’s High School.
Lowndes, 25 (pictured), still holds many of the club’s age-group distance records and although he did not set any new best times during the championships, he still won all his races comfortably.
Inevitably club records tumbled to Kristina Neves, who took five seconds off her own age group record for the backstroke and a fraction of a second in the freestyle.
She was just less than a second away from clocking record times in the individual medley and butterfly events – in which her own records from 2010 still stand.
