Rovers 2, Northerners 1
JON VERON was Rovers’ hero as his late brace completed a stunning turnaround and earned Rovers a deserved victory over league leaders North at Port Soif.

Veron’s winner was deep into a lengthy period of stoppage time and decided an entertaining game that should have produced more than the three goals it did, especially in the first half.

In that time, North could and probably should have taken an early two-goal lead through youngsters Ryan Truffitt and Sam Murray, within two minutes of each other.

Truffitt had come on for fellow teenager River Marsh on nine minutes after the midfielder suffered an unfortunate fractured ankle after a heavy challenge and the substitute should have opened the scoring less than a minute after entering the fray.
