GUERNSEY’S endurance runners head inland tomorrow as the FNB Cross Country Series moves to the popular but challenging course at Fauxquets Valley camp site.

After travelling to big races in the UK and Jersey over the last two weeks, series leader Steve Dawes has already indicated he intends to rest this weekend, leaving the race wide open.

Elliott Dorey, who missed the last ‘Stonecrusher’ event, preferring to focus on a home victory in the Jersey 10k, is expected to be among the challengers but Mike Wilesmith, Tristan Robilliard and Tim Coates will be joined by last year’s Fauxquets Valley winner Seb Foy in a race that is hard to predict.

‘Elliott probably starts as favourite, but the longer distance and terrain of the six-mile event may well swing the advantage towards a longer distance specialist,’ said race organiser Paul Ingrouille.
