FATIGUE caught up with Chris Simpson at the worst time yesterday when he faced one of the best players in the world.
However, having let third seed James Willstrop get off to a flyer in their second round match at the prestigious Kuwait PSA Cup, the Guernseyman restored a lot of pride over the rest of the match before succumbing to an 11-0, 11-8, 11-9 defeat.
‘In the first game I was still asleep,’ admitted Simpson after the 27min. encounter.
‘I didn’t sleep at all last night, so I slept most of the day today and I was still sleeping in the first game – and he is the last person on Earth you want to play half asleep against.
