IT WAS a mixed night for Guernsey boxers as they succumbed 7-4 to the North West Counties in an exciting opening Dinner Boxing Show of the season at St Pierre Park.

After the young guns had given Guernsey an early lead through debutant Mason Smale and Casey de la Mare, it was only Tom Duff and the highly talented Billy Le Poullain who could add further wins.

But it was still a mightily entertaining night with several close bouts, none more so than the fight of the night between Tom Maunder and the visiting Wesley Burns.

Many felt that Maunder might have done enough to secure the win after three tight rounds notable for some big punches from both boxers.
