GUERNSEY FC coach Tony Vance took aim at the small but vocal anti-GFC lobby after watching his side tear apart previously unbeaten Hartley Wintney 4-0 at Footes Lane on Saturday.

Another brace from Ross Allen, followed by strikes from Jacques Isabelle and Dom Heaume, ensured the Green Lions maintained their 11-point cushion at the top of Combined Counties League Division One.

‘The first 20 minutes or so were very tight and they played with a good tempo,’ Vance said.

And to critics who are using websites and other forums to attack the GFC concept, he added: ‘I cannot understand people who do not believe that this is good for Guernsey football.’

Maybe if Mr Vance went to a few Priaulx games & saw the crowds of less than 10 people watching the supposed highest league in Guernsey, his opinion would change.

Guernsey FC – Great for 25 lads & the neutrals but it will be the death of the ‘club leagues’.

We are basing it on the Rugby theory of a Guernsey team – can anyone tell me how many Guernsey clubs now make up the Guernsey Rugby club leagues?

DOnt be surprised if in 10 years when Guernsey FC are looking for the new breed of player, that they are not there, because they will have not bothered to play ‘non important’ football anymore – you know – the Priaulx league.

Totally agree with you Football Guern.
I have played football for many years and have been lucky enough to have won a couple of Priaulx medals and whilst i would never begrudge anyone trying to play at a higher level i think it is wrong to do so at the expense of the clubs who have provided all the players, facilities, coaches etc for the last 50 odd years.
Whilst everything in the garden is rosy at present with the easy wins and big crowds i have a feeling that in 2 or 3 years when Guernsey FC are playing in a league where winning is not so easy and maybe they are on the receiving end of a few hammerings of the type they are dishing out at present things may change.
Players will become disillusioned and find more reasons not to travel, sponsors will be less inclined to come up with the funding and when the team is floating around in mid table the crowds may not be quite so interested.
What happens then, the players will want to be winning trophies and the only way that will happen is by concentrating on their club football.
Maybe i am being cynical but i have a sneaking feeling this is what will happen.
Also, the argument about more players being given the oppurtunity to play 1st team football at club level is okay until the established star players fancy playing and Joe Bloggs who is training and turning out week in week out to support his club suddenly gets told -sorry you are on the bench because our best players are here today. If i was the coach of a Priaulx team i would not entertain anyone wanting to play for me only when there was nothing else on offer.
So to sum up if somebody wants to play for Guernsey FC then good luck to them but remember when it alls goes pear shaped it will be the clubs who have supported Guernsey football who are left to pick up the pieces.

TONY, it is not an attack on the gfc concept, it is real football peoples great concern for what will be left for local football, and i hope to be at the game on the 17th dec, and hope to go to any other football at that time. MAVERICK 73. couldnt agree more
