TWELVE members of the Guernsey Rowing Club have come to the end of their training for the indoor 100km Centurion Charity Row – the extreme rowing event on Sunday at Beau Sejour, starting at 9am.

For the individuals, it is the equivalent in distance terms of doing a marathon two-and-a-half times over. Some are doing it to compete, the others simply to complete.

A team of 10 GRC women, which includes Atlantic rower Kath Tracey, is also doing the 100km distance, together, in relay.

‘This will be hard rowing. All the rowers have experience of this but usually in races of no more than about three hours in length,’ said Dan Harradine, one of the organisers.
