HIS goalscoring exploits have seen Guernsey FC fans take him to their hearts and, as the year  ends, Ross Allen is almost certainly the deadliest marksman in English football this season.

The 24-year-old Green Lions centre-forward has rattled in 39 league goals in just 21 games so far in the Combined Counties League Division One, at step six on the non-league pyramid.

Although records are not easily accessible for every step five and six league around the country, Tony Williams, who works for the Non-League Newspaper, believes that Allen’s tally is comfortably the best in the country.

‘It is extremely unlikely that anybody else would be close to that number,’ he said.
