THIS intriguing basketball season served up yet more excellent fare last night at Beau Sejour.

Ultimately, the margin of victory might look relatively comfortable for the champions, but this was nip-and-tuck for the majority of the encounter until Panthers finished strongly to kill off Focus’ hopes of a second win in two weeks.

With six minutes remaining, just three points separated the sides, but then two of the stars of the night, Jason Hooper and Liam Smyth, came to the fore and between them racked up 10 points to just two in reply to guarantee victory.

‘It was another great game. As I keep saying, the standard this season is incredibly high,’ said Panthers coach Pat Ogier, who joked that the high-scoring nature of the match showed that defence is lacking but offence is getting better.
