LIAM ROBILLIARD has claimed the first senior open title of his career after winning the Jack Carrington table tennis Tournament.

The event that precludes players who have represented Guernsey in the annual Green trophy encounter against Jersey within the last two years was contested on Monday evening and by the time the final was reached, a new name was guaranteed to appear on the trophy.

The top seeds, Scott Romeril and Robilliard, both duly made their way to the final to battle it out.

Romeril, a former multiple time Green trophy player himself, had most likely been denied winning the tournament before due to his rapid rise into the island’s prestigious side and ineligibility to compete.
