THE Guernsey branch of British Showjumping opened their series of Sunday winter jumping rallies recently at Chemin Le Roi on the club’s all-weather surface.

The series provides an opportunity for horse and rider to prepare themselves for the main show season ahead, which will commence in earnest with the two-day Easter festival on 6-7 April.

The second rally and first in the Winter Championship saw entries increase significantly over the previous event, particularly in the junior sections with Carmel Turian on Thumbelina winning both of the nursery 0.50m classes.

Rhiannon Dowington on Moeltryfan Black Prince capitalised on her single win in the initial rally to take home red rosettes in both the 128cms classes, nudging her closest rival Honor Brooksbank into second slot on both occasions.
