Rain makes course tricky but it cannot stop Mapley
Tuesday 10th July 2012, 2:29PM BST.
THE latest round of the Guernsey Velo Club Downhill Mountain Bike Series saw the riders leave covered in mud.
The forecast was for heavy rain all day but while there was some rain, it did stop at times.
The overnight rain had completely soaked the Pleinmont course through, leaving the main technical section in thick mud.
The day started with the riders practising the course, which had fast and steep sections as well as slow hairpins.
John Mapley, pictured, looked quick, only needing to put a foot down a couple of times but then caught two other riders struggling through the mud.
