Tough first tests

GUERNSEY’S men will face a tough early test of their credentials in this season’s English Hockey Trophy draw.
The Sarnians won the national knockout competition back in 2009 and last season reached the final, losing out to Gateshead in April this year.
Their quest to go one better this time will begin next month against Tulse Hill & Dulwich in a first round tie that will likely be played in the UK despite Guernsey being drawn at home.
Based in south London, they knocked Guernsey out two seasons ago on their way to reaching that year’s final.
As a result, Sarnian captain Matt Watson, pictured, knows his side have been given one of the most difficult early challenges possible, but is not concerned about it.
