AFTER a day of mixed emotions, Guernsey FC are in the hat today for the FA Vase third round after producing an astonishing comeback at Erith Town on Saturday.
But after trailing 3-0 with just 11min. remaining before a fightback to force extra-time and a 4-3 win, coach Tony Vance was in despondent mood after a terrible injury to Ryan-Zico Black.
The midfielder suffered a double break to his right leg and he will be operated on in a London hospital later today, after a collision with Erith’s Tyrus Gordon.
‘At the moment, when I should be happy with the win considering the context of the match, it may sound silly but it is insignificant really,’ Vance explained.
‘Hopefully, the way that the boys fought their way back into it will give Zico some comfort, but right now all I am thinking about is the poor lad.’
