Mackay and Vance back ‘Zico’ to return

GUERNSEY FC players and staff alike have praised the work of chief physio Mike Thomas after his quick response to Ryan-Zico Black’s horrific leg break on Saturday.
Black suffered a double-break of his right tibia and fibula in the 4-3 FA Vase win over Erith Town, an injury which was operated on yesterday in a London hospital.
After the injury, Black, pictured, had to wait for nearly an hour before a paramedic and then ambulance arrived at the Erith Sports Stadium.
Team-mate Angus Mackay was one of the first to reach Black and helped his friend deal with the injury before the emergency services arrived, with Thomas leading the on-pitch support.
‘Mike was absolute quality. He straightaway stabilised the fracture and was giving instructions to everybody else about what to do,’ said Mackay.
