Success in Gloucester as Johnson targets Glasgow

ELENA JOHNSON is once again a winner on the national badminton circuit.

The Guernsey Commonwealth Games player, pictured, tasted success at the Gloucester Silver Circuit event at the weekend, winning the women’s doubles when partnering Rebecca Pantaney.

They started as second seeds, which meant they had a bye through the first round before defeating Jessica Pugh and Ellen Mahenthiralingam, who are both junior internationals for England and Wales respectively.

That set up a semi-final with Rae Larmour and Rebecca Boyle, which Johnson and Pantaney again came through unscathed.

In the final they faced Brodie Miller and Joshwey Bong, who both represent England at junior level and who had knocked out the top seeds, Jess Hopton and Lynnlette Aung, in the other semi.
