A FORMER local favourite will go head-to-head with a close friend at St Pierre Park as the new boxing season gets under way tomorrow night.
Casey de la Mare and Jack Gilvear were Amalgamated teammates for several years before the latter moved back to the UK with his family in the summer.

However, the visiting Manchester Select team for this show have Gilvear in their ranks and he will take on de la Mare in an intriguing light-welterweight contest that was implausible only a few months ago.

‘It should be a cracking bout and will be really exciting for the spectators, who will know both boxers well,’ said Guernsey’s head coach Graham Guilbert.
