GUERNSEY FC’s dwindling midfield stocks have taken another sizeable blow with the news that Angus Mackay has ruptured his medial collateral knee ligament.

The influential 27-year-old is likely be out for a minimum of three months after sustaining the injury in his right knee in last month’s FA Vase victory at Erith Town.

It is the latest in a string of setbacks for the former Oxford United trainee, who has also suffered a broken leg on two previous occasions.

‘Last season was probably my first fully injury-free season since I was about 15-years-old,’ Mackay said.

‘I am used to long setbacks – I have had them twice before – and hopefully that will stand me in good stead in terms of knowing what to do to come back.’
