Promotion hopes get twin boost

Guernsey FC chairman Steve Dewsnip, pictured, remains confident that insufficient ground grading will not prevent Guernsey FC from potentially getting promoted at the end of the season.
The Green Lions applied to the Football Association for promotion to step four by last week’s deadline, as did 73 other clubs around the country, including seven rivals from the CCL Premier Division.
Teams must win their league to ensure promotion, although second place may also be enough in some cases this season, but all promotion hopefuls must have ground grading E in place by 31 March.
For GFC to meet that criteria, they must have a 1.83-metre solid structure surrounding the ground, as well as fitted turnstiles, or else also risk getting relegated back to CCL Division One.
A planning application for the work has been submitted, confirmed by its presence on the Planning Department’s website, and the club are now waiting on a decision.
