The Aztec way: Rob Jones takes some of his youngest boys through a warm-up exercise.
GUERNSEY FC provided the controversial revolution of Guernsey football, but all the while the Green Lions were setting up and taking the Combined Counties League storm, another ambitious small group of football men were building something else special.
The result is that the Aztec Soccer Academy is to become the Aztec Foundation Academy of the Guernsey Football Association’s new ‘High Performance Player Pathway’.
And it is easy to see why. They have been achievers.
With 80 players ranging from seven to 11 years old, 10 highly experienced coaches and well-established touring links with Southampton, Brighton, Bristol and Bournemouth Academies – not to mention new prospects in the form of Exeter City and Torquay United – the Aztec Soccer Academy can be pretty proud of what it has achieved in a little over four years.
Which is why it is time to share, said Rob Jones, joint founder and head of the Aztec Soccer Academy.
