Father’s Day ‘Half’ goes charitable and healthy

NEXT year’s Sportingbet Father’s Day Half Marathon will have a new look and feel to it.
The event, which is run by the GIAAC and which will take place on 16 June, is being billed as a fundraising event with sponsors Sportingbet awarding funding to four successful charities.
‘We think it is very important to make this an opportunity to raise money for local causes,’ says Jo Wyatt of Sportingbet.
‘We recognise many people will be making New Year’s resolutions that will involve getting fit and shedding a few pounds.
‘Some will never have run a half marathon before but we want them to make our event a target to take part in and to choose a charity to represent. The added pressure of taking part to help raise funds will be a tremendous motivation to participants who want to get back into shape.’
