Break is over for Watson
Friday 28th December 2012, 2:00PM GMT.
A YEAR on from the self-confessed worst period of her career, Heather Watson will look to start 2013 in style next week.
The 20-year-old Guernsey starlet is at a career-high 49 in the world rankings and begins her new season at the ASB Classic in Auckland, which gets under way on New Year’s Eve.
After that she will travel to Tasmania for the Moorilla Hobart International, which precedes the Australian Open, the year’s first Grand Slam beginning a week later in Melbourne.
‘I’m very excited to be returning to Hobart in 2013 and I am looking forward to improving on my results there this year when I entered as a qualifier,’ said Watson, confirming her entry this week.
‘It is a great event, the facilities are first class and it will be great preparation for the Australian Open.’
