Saints aiming to be first team to retain the trophy

JOHN PEACE admits that the thought of creating history will drive St Martin’s on as the Guernsey FA Cup reaches the quarter-final stage this weekend.
The black-and-whites entertain Sylvans at Blanche Pierre Lane tomorrow (4pm kick-off) in a repeat of last season’s final, which Saints won 3-1.
Should they go on to win the trophy again this time, they would be the first side in its nine-year history to retain it and also move joint with North on three wins overall.
‘There is still a lot of prestige about the FA Cup and, although it hasn’t got as many sides as it used to, it is still great to win,’ said coach Peace.
