ABN AMRO took a big step towards the Men’s Division One hockey title on Saturday.

Adam Kitching was the two-goal hero for Andy Alford’s men as they inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Clubhouse Casuals in the top-of-the-table clash at Footes Lane.

Colombians’ subsequent 9-0 demolition of Unwantables later in the afternoon meant that the champions move above Casuals and remain one point behind the leaders, but it is the orange-and-greens who hold the upper hand in this intriguing title race.

‘It was a good game with a few chances for both sides,’ said Indies captain Andy Alford.

‘It was fairly level with about 10 minutes to go, but they got an injury and that allowed us to get in a huddle and have a chat which influenced the last 10 and we probably had the better of it.’
