HEATHER WATSON staged a remarkable comeback this morning to progress in the opening Grand Slam of the year.
The British number one dropped the first set and was a break down in the second to Alexandra Cadantu, a player ranked 41 places below her in the rankings, on court 13 at Melbourne Park in the first round of the Australian Open.
Both players broke early on in the set before Cadantu pulled away with two more breaks to take the opener 6-2 in 48 minutes.

Watson held in the first game of the second set, but was broken in her next service game as Cadantu forged ahead once more.
