AFTER a visit to the doctor, Heather Watson will hope to make the most of Mona Barthel becoming the first seed to fall from the Australian Open.
The 20-year-old Sarnian won her first match down under with a superb fightback to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 over Alexandra Cadantu yesterday and secure a last-64 spot.
That was despite needing medical attention in the second set, as the on-court doctor checked the Guernsey star’s pulse and ear.
Watson later said she did not know the exact cause of the problem.
‘It [the timeout] gave me time to eat, get some fuel in me and just get recharged and motivated,’ she said.
