AFTER one of the most extraordinary afternoons in local football, Guernsey FC are into the FA Vase fifth round after a dramatic 6-5 extra-time success over Rye United at The Salts on Saturday.
In a fourth-round tie of twists and turns, the Green Lions first came back from 2-0 behind to lead 3-2, thanks to a Ross Allen brace and a Dom Heaume header.
But after Rye levelled it late on, an extra period was required and it was the home side that went 4-3 and 5-4 up, Heaume and then Nigel Hutton cancelling out the respective efforts.
It was left to Dave Rihoy to become the hero with a 115th minute strike to send GFC through to a last-16 encounter with either Spalding United or Ely City, who meet tomorrow night.
