THIS summer’s Island Games basketball tournament is on the verge of being cancelled after the late withdrawal of a number of teams.
Guernsey are due to send both a men’s and women’s team across to Bermuda in July, but as of now, there are only three teams confirmed for each tournament.
Unless more teams decide to enter each tournament by Monday’s deadline and help reach the minimum entry of five islands, then it looks certain that basketball will drop off the schedule.
Should that happen, it could well have a big knock-on effect for the remainder of Team Guernsey, explained Guernsey Island Games Association liaison director Jon Marley.
